Tyre Markings

Buying the right tyres starts with knowing your size. This guide breaks down the numbers and letters on your tyre sidewall so you can shop with confidence.

Tyre width in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall.

Aspect Ratio (55)

Height of the tyre sidewall as a percentage of the width.

Construction (R)

"R" stands for Radial construction, the industry standard.

The diameter of the wheel rim in inches.

Maximum load carrying capacity per tyre.

Speed Rating (V)

Where to ind Your Tyre Size

Option 1: Tyre Sidewall

The most accurate way is to look at the tyres currently installed on your vehicle. Look for the large sequence of numbers (e.g., 205/55R16).

Option 2: Driver's Door Placard

Check the sticker inside the driver's side door jamb. It lists the manufacturer's recommended tyre sizes and pressures.
